Basic Troubleshooting Guide

LCD blank / No LED indications

Check control power input proper levels and polarity are applied to terminals 7 (Batt +) and 8 (Batt -) or terminals 9 (L) and 10 (N).

No generator voltage

  • Check control power input proper levels and polarity are applied to terminals 7 (Batt +) and 8 (Batt -) or terminals 9 (L) and 10 (N).
  • Check power input to ensure proper levels are applied.
  • Check residual generator voltage (if shunt powered).
    • Flash field as required. Use blocking diodes and current limiting resistors as required.
  • Verify all electrical connections.
  • Verify start contact signal is applied to the unit.
  • Verify proper settings have been programmed into the unit.

Not sharing vars (paralleling applications)

  • Verify proper phasing and polarity of sensing voltage.
  • Verify proper contact inputs are present and aligned with programmable input logic.
  • Verify nominal current settings, including CT ratios.
  • Verify proper gain settings.
  • Verify proper mode of operation is selected.

Poor voltage regulation

  • Verify proper gains, including PID and loop gains.
  • Verify proper contact inputs are present and the proper mode of operation has been set.
  • Verify there is no input at the auxiliary input terminals.

Voltage instability

  • Verify proper gains, including PID and loop gains.
  • Verify proper contact inputs are present and the proper mode of operation has been set.
  • Verify there is no input at the auxiliary input terminals.
